Thanksgiving in Montreal – Just Don’t Do It…..
Somehow we thought it’d make since to go to Montreal for a three day weekend with our dog. We decided to go in October and to our surprise we landed in Montreal on the eve of Canadian Thanksgiving.
Being clearly culturally ignorant I was:
But being alone in what would have otherwise been a busy and bustling city did not deter us from enjoying ourselves. There were a few good ramen places open and a man who was still offering tourist rides on horseback to Americans who had stumbled upon Canada during Thanksgiving.
I love Thanksgiving. In Canada, we don’t really have a lot of history with Thanksgiving, and it’s a holiday devoted to food, and that warms the cockles of my being.

Really, the moral of this post is to look up in the calendar when the Canadian Thanksgiving will take place. As a courtesy, I’ve listed the next few years for you:

There were war Korean war ships parked in the harbor playing loud music. We asked what was happening and someone told us it was some kind of celebration. So we danced with the music.
