Short Break: Austria

After traveling for a month around Asia: Mongolia, Thailand, Cambodia, Bangkok, and China we finally landed in a familiar place: Austria.

Christian grew up in Austria with his parents after they moved from Germany so for us it was like coming home.

While we took a day trip to Salzburg to enjoy the Sound of Music Tour we mostly spent time with family relaxing and shopping. I ended up buying more in Austria in a week than I bought the entire time in Asia for a month. But seriously, it was relaxing and I was happy for the break.

Most everyday looked like this:

Or like this:

Eating lots of Ice Cream as Snacks

I’m pretty sure my track record of not gaining any weight since leaving for Asia was 100% defeated. I’m pretty sure I gained a lot of weight but isn’t that what’s travel for?

*Public Service Announcement: AUSTRIA HAS THE BIGGEST ICE CREAM I’VE EVER SEEN. Some even come with Liquor.

Nevertheless, Austria was a welcome break from all of the unknown.

Soon we’ll be off for Amsterdam. A city I’ve never been to and one I hope will leave a lasting impression.

We’ll take a 10 hour train ride overnight from Austria to Amsterdam with a 30 minute layover in Dusseldorf.

Wish us luck!
